Jack Bradford, Director
Jack Bradford recently won strong reviews for Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and Queensland’s premiere production of the 2009 Tony nominated Speed The Plow directed by Terry Annesley. Jack also directed Starlight’s 2009 production Forbidden Broadway as well as Brisbane Junior Theatre’s hit High School Musical.
In July 2009 Jack had a successful season playing the title role in Starlight’s Sweeney Todd. His other performing credits include the Father in Children of Eden at Harvest Rain, Watson in Parade for Warehaus at the Cremorne, and Valjean in Les Miserables with both Ignatians and Savoyards.
Jack’s recent directing credits include Queensland Premiere’s Witches of Eastwick and Rent at the Schonell Theatre. Jack also directed West Side Story for Savoyards, The Importance of Being Earnest at both HRTC and Starlight, Oliver and both Godspell productions at Harvest Rain Theatre.
Some of Jack’s favourite roles include: Jesus in Godspell (with Kathy Najimy), Nicely Nicely in Guys and Dolls, Arthur in Camelot, Petruchio in Kiss Me Kate, Cocky in The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Crowd, Jerry in A Zoo Story, Creon in
Antigone and Alan Strang and Dalton in Equus (with Tony Award winning George Grizzard).
Jack recently appeared in the movie Daybreakers with Ethan Hawke, as well as playing Mr. Chauvel, the French Teacher, in the Disney BBC TV show Mortified. Jack is the Artistic Director of both Starlight and Brisbane Junior Theatre, directing three of Starlight’s Premiere Season plays in 2008; Earnest, Songs for a New World, and Suds, and winning strong reviews for his portrayal of Robert in Starlight’s Proof.
Jack’s work with Brisbane Junior Theatre has seen him produce and direct over 30 productions in 10 years, working with kids 5-18 years. Jack holds an M.A., BA. and A.A. in Theatre as well as a Diploma in Music. Jack, his lovely wife Deborah and his three sons Zachary, Jacob and Jesse are all talented artists and musicians and work in Starlight and BJT.
